A former Lafayette resident was sentenced to 19 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to receipt of child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Louisiana.
Moses Hernandez, 34, was sentenced April 30 to 19 years in prison, followed by 25 years of supervised release.
Federal prosecutors said the investigation began in July 2025 after the FBI received a tip that Hernandez had confessed to molesting a young girl and producing material depicting the abuse.
Investigators obtained a warrant to search Hernandez’s cellphone, which authorities said contained images and videos involving child sexual abuse material, including child rape and bestiality.
The FBI investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Danny Siefker prosecuted the case with assistance from Paralegal Specialist Denise Duhon.
U.S. Attorney Zachary A. Keller announced the sentence.
