Portobello’s Grill in Baton Rouge closed its doors permanently on Sunday, according to a social media post.
At 15440 George O’Neal Road, Portobello’s Grill opened in 1996 by founder Kiva Guidroz, and in 2020, chef Peter Sclafani became a co-owner. On Monday, the business announced that it served its last meal on Sunday.
“After many wonderful years serving Baton Rouge, Portobello’s Grill served its final brunch this Sunday,” the Instagram post’s caption stated. “This was a difficult decision, and it is ours alone — our team gave this restaurant everything, and our guests gave us so much more.”
Portobello's is part of the , which includes SoLou and P-Beau's in Denham Springs.
The menu at Portobello's served “Louisiana-inspired” fare including seafood dishes, salads, soups, pastas, steaks and desserts. Entrees included the Fish Katherine, a sautéed redfish with jumbo lump crabmeat, Creole meunière, hollandaise and served with asparagus, and Miss Grace’s Five-Cheese Lasagna, packed with ground beef, marinara, fresh pasta sheets, mozzarella, provolone, pecorino Romano, ricotta and parmesan.
Some of the staff will join the team at , located at 2112 Perkins Palm Ave. SoLou serves Southern plates such as chicken and waffles, fish amandine, rotisserie chicken and tabletop s’mores.
SoLou is open every day and also serves a daily brunch until 3 p.m. Every weekday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., the happy hour every serves cocktails, beers and wines.
