A satellite key to tracking hurricanes in the Atlantic basin has returned to delivering data after briefly being out of service, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration announced Thursday.

In addition to its hurricane tracking functions, GOES-19 tracks weather patterns such as lightning strikes and ocean temperatures for Louisiana and other Gulf Coast residents.
