Hurricane forecasters are tracking an area of low pressure located off the southeast U.S. coast.
The disturbance in the Atlantic off the coast of North Carolina had a low chance of forming as of Monday morning, forecasters with the National Hurricane Center said.
As of 7 a.m. Monday, NHC forecasters and gave the disturbance a 10% chance of further formation, both within the next 48 hours and in the next seven days. The disturbance is expected to move south, then westward.
If it forms, it could be the second named storm of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season that started June 1. Tropical Storm Arthur briefly formed June 17 and its remnants caused in southeast Louisiana on June 18.
