Most outstanding player: Parker Bryan, Catholic, Fr.

Parker Bryan’s freshman season was one to remember. He dominated throughout the year and was the area's top-ranked player in the LHSAA individual rankings.

Bryan finished as the runner-up in the Division I Region II final. That result did little to slow Bryan down once the state tournament began. He entered the tournament as the No. 14 seed and swept his first match to reach the quarterfinals.

He then faced Brother Martin’s Reed MacAlestar, the state's top-ranked player and upset the junior in three sets.

Bryan then faced Southside’s Andrew Delello, who had defeated Bryan in the regional final. Bryan avenged that regional loss in straight sets to clinch the Division I singles state title.

Bryan is already off to a promising start to his high school career. His performances have earned him a five-star rating on the Tennis Recruiting Network. For his efforts throughout the year and for winning a state title, Bryan is named The Advocate’s All-Metro boys tennis player of the year.

Coach of the year: Annabella Rawls, Catholic

It was an outstanding year for the Catholic tennis team, led by Rawls. Her Bears finished as the state runner-up to Brother Martin, which marked the team’s best finish at the state tournament since its state title in 2022. The Bears also won their sixth straight regional title and saw Parker Bryan win a singles state title. For her coaching efforts, Rawls was named The Advocate’s All-Metro boys tennis coach of the year.

Girls

Most outstanding player: Lauren Longmire, University High, Fr.

Lauren Longmire continued a legacy left by her sister this season. She won the Division III singles state title in her freshman season.

She entered the state tournament as a regional champion and then breezed through the competition in the state singles bracket. Longmire never dropped a set on her way to becoming a state champion.

The Cubs freshman won the first-round match 6-0, 6-1. She continued to cruise through the competition to make the state final.

Longmire’s closest call was in the final, where she won the first set 6-3 over Elizabeth Aragon of Haynes. Longmire won the second set 6-0 to secure her title. She follows her sister, Mary Ellen Longmire, to become a state champion.

Longmire’s season, which culminated in a regional title and a singles state title, earns her the honor of being recognized as The Advocate’s All-Metro girls tennis player of the year.

Coach of the year: Jonathan Howard, St. Joseph’s

St. Joseph’s continued its stellar run of state titles this season, winning their sixth straight Division I state title. Redstickers coach Jonathan Howard has continued to mold U-High into an unstoppable force on the tennis court.

The Redstickers also won the Division I doubles state title. For his efforts coaching another state title team, Howard is named The Advocate’s All-Metro girls tennis coach of the year.
