A year filled with great seasons led to several Baton Rouge-area athletes earning spots on the LSWA Class 3A All-State baseball and softball teams.

In baseball, Parkview Baptist pitcher Logan Sorrel earned a spot on the first team. The senior finished with a 1.51 ERA and 106 strikeouts across 55 innings.

The Kentucky signee fooled hitters all year, limiting opposing batters to a .116 batting average.

Parkview Baptist's Henry Beckers also earned all-state honors at utility. The senior batted .442 with a .538 on-base percentage. He finished with 39 RBIs, eight doubles and four home runs. On the mound, Beckers had a 2.20 ERA in 35 innings pitched.

A pair of University High players earned first-team honors.

Cubs junior infielder Shepherd Gammon hit .384 with a .503 on-base percentage and a .648 slugging percentage. He spent the majority of the season as U-High's leadoff hitter. He totaled 24 RBIs, 19 doubles, four triples and two home runs.

U-High senior Jaris Hamilton earned first-team honors in the outfield, batting .366 with a .439 on-base percentage. He tallied 19 stolen bases, seven doubles, four triples and two home runs.

St. James had one honoree in junior Liam Cazenave. The junior earned a spot at utility after he batted .430 with 23 RBIs. He also stole 24 bases. On the mound, Cazenave had a 5-2 record with a 1.81 ERA and 81 strikeouts.

In softball, two Parkview Baptist players earned first-team honors at utility.

Eagles freshman Jalayah Slaughter finished with a stellar season in the circle with an 11-1 record, a 1.19 ERA and 152 strikeouts in 82 innings. She also had a .389 batting average, 43 RBIs and 10 doubles.

Eighth grader Aimee Gawlik earned first-team honors with a .400 batting average, .508 on-base percentage and 36 RBIs. She hit 11 home runs and seven doubles. In the circle, Gawlik went 11-2 with a 1.31 ERA and 108 strikeouts in 79 innings.

University High's Morgan Singleton earned first-team honors in the outfield. The eighth grader batted .515 with a .595 on-base percentage. She totaled 39 runs, 27 RBIs, 11 doubles and four triples.
