Southwest Louisiana is forecast to see minor impacts from Tropical Storm Bertha as the storm nears landfall early Wednesday
The National Weather Service Lake Charles has issued a Tropical Storm Watch for coastal Louisiana east of the Vermilion-Cameron Parish line ahead of Tropical Storm Bertha; however, Cameron and Calcasieu Parishes remain without a warning.
“Tropical Storm Bertha will weaken as it approaches south central and southwest Louisiana,” the forecast states.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Bertha is anticipated to make her way along the Louisiana coast Wednesday through Thursday.
“Maximum winds within Tropical Storm Bertha have increased to 60 mph,” the forecast reads. “Little if any further strengthening is anticipated as the system moves west-northwest toward southeast Louisiana. At this time, chances for rapid intensification are very low.”
The National Weather Service Lake Charles said that rain chances are “iffy” with the storm.
The Service is forecasting that Lake Charles will see consistent chances of rain starting on Wednesday night through Sunday, with the highest chance being 35% from 6 p.m. to midnight Saturday.
“Chances favor less than an inch of rain for most locations across southeast Texas and Louisiana,” the forecast states. “Locations along the coast in portions of south central and southeast Louisiana have chances for receiving up to 3 inches.”
