Baton Rouge trick-or-treaters couldn't ask for much better weather for Halloween this year, with the National Weather Service calling for clear skies and cool temperatures.
A weather system this past weekend that brought rain was followed by an even stronger one Tuesday night that swept in a strong cold front, NWS meteorologist Christopher Bannan said.
"It really did set up dry, clear weather that's cool at night and comfortable during the day," Bannan said.
Friday is expected to be clear throughout the day and night, with a high near 69 and a low around 47.
The nice, fall weather will "stick around all week," Bannan said.
Trick-or-treating hours in Baton Rouge on Friday are from 6 to 8 p.m.
Local officials shared safety tips for Halloween:
- Trick-or-treat in groups, staying in familiar, well-lit areas. Children should always be accompanied by a trusted adult.
 - Stay on sidewalks, walk, don’t run, and use crosswalks when available. Avoid cutting across yards or streets in the dark.
 - Wear bright or reflective costumes and carry flashlights or glow sticks to alert drivers.
 - Inspect all candy and snacks before eating. Discard anything that is unwrapped or looks suspicious, and be mindful of potential allergens.
